Creating a Private Label Product for Amazon: FAQs

Can I Create a Private Label Product for Amazon?

One of the most frequent questions we get asked is whether or not we can help you create a private-label product for Amazon. The simple answer is YES! In fact, many of our clients have created products that are "best-sellers" in different categories within Amazon. With very minimal investment, you can create a new brand or product that can sell thousands of units per month.

Are Your Products Hazardous?

Amazon has very strict requirements when it comes to selling hazardous (HazMat) products. The majority of the products we have available are non-hazardous and are able to safely enter the Amazon FBA marketplace. Amazon's primary concern, as of this blog's publication, is with regards to the flashpoint/flammability of the formulation. You can see the full list of HazMat requirements here.

We will be able to provide you with a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the formula, which will provide all the information required to successfully load the product into Amazon's marketplace. If you have any technical questions on the product while you are loading it, just let us know, and we can help.

Can You Help Me Prep My Product?

Because the majority of the products we sell at Filling Factory are liquids, they will require a poly-bag with a suffocation warning. Our warehouse has a variety of poly-bags that can fit just about any product. For some of our clients, we also shrink-wrap products, which also meets Amazon's prep requirements.

Can I Create a Kit for My Product?

Many of our customers will kit together multiple items for their Amazon sales. For instance, you could pair up a microfiber towel with a glass cleaner or shrink-band together two bottles of the same product for a 'value pack'. Just let us know what you are thinking, and we will see if we can make it happen!

How Should I Ship My Products to Amazon?

We almost always recommend using Amazon Preferred LTL (less than truckload) services when shipping products to the various distribution centers. Why LTL? Because it is the safest and most cost-effective option for shipping liquids. Unfortunately, small parcel carriers such as UPS and FedEx will be much more expensive and have a higher rate of damage than LTL. In addition, Amazon limits the void fill (packing materials) we are able to use in case-packs, which makes it even more difficult to get the product safely into their warehouses via small parcel carriers.

Also, we strongly suggest you use Amazon's carriers when shipping products to their warehouses. The shipping rates you will receive from their partners are greatly reduced and more economical than having our company ship products on your behalf.

How Quickly Can You Turn Around Product?

This varies based on the size and scope of your project. Generally speaking, if you are using our existing 'stock packaging', we can offer better turn-around times than if you were to go a custom route. As a rule of thumb, we normally ask that clients give us 2 - 3 weeks to complete a project after the artwork has been approved.

Creating a private label product for Amazon can be a lucrative venture. By addressing common questions and concerns, we aim to provide you with the necessary information to make informed decisions and succeed in the Amazon marketplace.
